Was ist Rolfing

“One may experience his lost battle with gravity as severe pain in the back, the other as the unflattering profile of his body, another as constant fatigue, and yet another as an inexorable, threatening environment. If you are over forty, you might call it age - yet all these signals can point to a single problem: you are out of balance, you are in conflict with gravity. " (Dr. Ida Rolf, 1977)

Gravity acts on us everywhere on earth and creates permanent tensile or compressive stress in the body. If the body is out of balance, it has to compensate in order to keep itself upright, sometimes with a high expenditure of energy.

The founder of the method, Dr. Rolf, described the fascia as an "organ of form". As early as the middle of the last century she put forward the theory that a conscious and targeted mobilization of this tissue has a liberating and beneficial effect on the body.

Rolfing always addresses the entire organism and does not orientate itself on individual symptoms.

Everyday movements such as walking, standing, and sitting are relearned and thus enable the integrated structure to be stabilized on a daily basis.

A single treatment lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. The intervals between the meetings are usually 1-4 weeks, so that the basic sequence of ten meetings extends over half a year.

Most of the manual work on the connective tissue is done lying down, but also while sitting and standing. Precise and sensitive pressure and pull of fingers, hands and elbows make it possible to loosen hardened structures and give the fascia network a new direction.

Rolfing is holistic body work. It contributes to the fact that the matted fascia tissue becomes more supple and smooth and that the body can realign itself.

In a series of 10 sessions, Rolfer support their clients in improving their posture and movement patterns. The main concern is to improve structure, posture and movement dynamics.

Über mich

Born in Halle / Saale, I studied dance and pedagogy in Dresden and Vienna and graduated with a diploma. After my studies, I completed an apprenticeship as a Pilates trainer and have been working freelance in these areas since 2010.

I have been a member of tamed eV / Tanzmedizin Deutschland since my studies and deal intensively with the anatomy of movement. Already in 2008 I experienced Rolfing® according to Dr. Ida Rolf.

The holistic approach of Rolfing®, not symptom-oriented, but working in relation to gravity, is logical and fascinating for me against my professional background.

In 2020 I completed my training as a certified Rolfer®.

In addition to the classic Rolfing® 10 series, I offer scar work based on Sharon Wheeler.

If you have any questions about Rolfing® or scar work, please do not hesitate to contact me.
